SlackJack Guitars is a builder of unique stringed instruments with 3, 4 or 6 strings. Located in Historic Jonesborough, TN, an area rich in music history, it was easy to get hooked on the "homemade" instrument concept. What started out as a hobby quickly became an obsession, and now I can't stop building/playing these unique instruments.
The cigar box guitar dates back to the 1850's and were a prevelant part of American Musical History during the Great Depression. Homemade instruments like these were played by greats like Lightning Hopkins, Carl Perkins, Jimi Hendrix, Roy Clark and many others....so what now?? Buy one and play what you want, how you want! No rules and no egos.

WHAT'S NEW AT SLACKJACK GUITARS???
6-String Solid Body Models- Our 6-string models feature premium wooden cigar boxes with solid wooden bodies inside, just like a factory solid body, only way cooler!! We use high quality Humbucker and single coil pickups with tone and volume controls. Most necks are hard maple with rosewood or maple fretboards. Our Standard model comes with your choice of a humbucker or single coil with tone and volume control. Additional pickups hardware upgrades are available for an upcharge.

Resonator Guitars- Our resonator models feature 6" handspun brass cones and our SlackJack Tonemaster pickups with volume controls. Magnetic Pickups are available for an additional charge. All of our models feature hardwood necks with laminated hardwood fretboards.

WOMP BOX- The Womp Box is a stomp box made from a wooden cigar box. Great to use as in solo situations or anywhere you need a rhythmic kick drum sound where you don't have the space for one. The current Womp Box is our 2nd Generation offering. The new Womp Box gets its low end tone from a magnetic bass guitar pickup wired to a volume control. Most of the boxes are solid wood inside. The antique license plate top activates the pickup. Sound and volume can be altered depending on where you tap or stomp on the box. Rubber feet make it great for any surface by holding it in place.
